Hey there -- Have you met Ted?
I actually don't know anyone named Ted. But that's my favorite catch-phrase from the epic TV series "How I met your Mother". If you haven't seen it (and I'm so behind I'm just watching the final season now), it's about a group of friends in New York. Barney is always trying to help his friend Ted meet women, and instead of using an elaborate pick up line, he simply taps on a shoulder and says "Have you met Ted?" In recognition of National Women's Small Business Month, every October we work to raise the profile of women leaders and women-led business in the Upper Keys. So without further ado: have you met Bonnie? and Megan and Bernice and Vivian and Mary Beth and Victoria and Barbara?
They are the amazing individual Members who received nominations for our Upper Keys BPW Woman of the Year!
|
|
Each of these individuals and the member-run businesses nominated for Business of the Year are truly inspiring. They embody what our Business & Professional Women organization is all about and have had some incredibly positive impacts on our community over the past 12 months.
|
|
Read the nominations to learn how they embody strength, creativity and warmth to empower others.
Then help us make sure everyone in the Upper Keys knows their names. It's easy. Just ask : have you met Cirque Salon? And First State Bank and Houston Insurance Agency and Jellyfish Daydreams?
And it can be as fun as bringing a friend to Our Celebration of Working Women program on the evening of Oct. 16 at the Pilot House Restaurant in Key Largo. We'll be announcing the BPW Woman and Business of the Year, as well as recipients of our fall Women's Scholarship Program awards. See details and links to register below. All are welcome!

We're getting closer to our goal...
September was a great month for our "Give Hope a Home" campaign! The purpose of the campaign is to raise $10,000 for a new domestic abuse shelter to serve the Middle and Upper Keys. This much-needed emergency shelter will replace the one destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017. The funds raised by BPW will sponsor a Business Center at the shelter equipped with computers, internet access and supplies to help survivors find jobs, housing and more.
Just in the past month, we've received almost $800 in new contributions, bringing the total raised to date to $7,715 - more than 75% of goal! Let's keep the momentum going... can you help us get past $8,000 this month?
